This is Josie Bear. I know it’s been awhile since you’ve heard from me.
We have been hanging out in good old Fairbanks.
Walks every day. Naps every day. Basking in the sun. Snoozing on the couch. Life has been pretty mellow. But very, very good. Did I mention the naps?
I haven’t been for too many car rides lately. Since our house has been parked in one spot for a while now. A few short ones. But no long ones.
And it’s kinda nice to have a break. I guess. But I do like going for car rides.
I miss my friends. And I miss exploring new trails. I can’t wait until we hit the road again.
So I guess maybe mama noticed I was missing my friends. And missing Leda too. I think she noticed that I was a little lonely…
The next thing I knew, mama and papa said it was time to go for a car ride. And they were pretty excited – so of course, I got excited too!
So here I am, anxious to see what all the fuss is about. And we pull up to the clinic. Now this isn’t just any clinic – this is the clinic where my friend Susan works!
Any dog who goes through the Golden Retriever Rescue knows Susan! And let me tell you, everyone loves her too! She’s always happy to see me! She’s the one who brought me to my mama and papa!
So I’m excited as all get out to see my friend Susan again! But I had to wait in the truck, while mama and papa went in without me.
And I started to get suspicious…
Are we really here just to visit Susan?
Thankfully I didn’t have to wait long – papa came out to get me! I all but barreled through the clinic so I could get to Susan who was waiting for me out the back door!
And that’s when I saw him.
Yup. You know where this is going…
Before I knew it, I was greeting this short, pudgy, roly-poly golden boy!
I was pretty excited to meet a golden boy! Of course, I do get excited to meet every dog I see!
We sniffed each other out and hopped around together, while mama, papa, and Susan anxiously watched us.
After we had some fun, rolling around together, it was time to go. I was a little disappointed that we were leaving so soon.
I went back to the truck with papa. And then we waited.
What was taking mama so long?
And guess what? When she finally showed up at the truck, she had the golden boy with her!
Mama helped him into the truck, and she buckled him in. Right where Leda used to sit.
I could tell that the golden boy was nervous. He was panting like crazy.
I tried to play it cool – I sat tall and proud looking down on him. Showing him how awesome I am and that he had nothing to fear.
Then I realized that he likes car rides too! He settled right down and put his head on the pillow.
I couldn’t believe it. He was going home with us!
I was very excited to show him the house. But very nervous too.
The doggo bed. The tub of babies. The water bowl.
Golden boy was still nervous. But I could tell he was excited too.
After mama fed us some dinner, he started to settle down.
Papa says he is doing all the same things I did when they first brought me home.
Hmmmm. I don’t know about that one. I mean, I’m pretty sure I was the perfect golden girl. And I still am.
So let me cut to the chase here, and introduce you to this golden boy.
His name, is Scooter.
Scooter is a 7 year old golden boy and a barrel of wiggle worm goofiness!
