Hanging around this Chena Lakes place has been AMAZING! There is so much to sniff!! So many smells, sounds, and nature. So far, me and Josie have been loving it.
Multiple walks every day. Mama doesn’t go anywhere without me. It’s almost too good to be true.
It’s been a little tough on Josie though. There is a squirrel that is hanging around our site and he really seems to be taunting her. Mama has to help settle Josie down – she gets all worked up and starts shaking.
The first few days here we mostly just walked the camp loop and went down to the day use area by the river. That was plenty of stimulation for me and Josie.
Our first night it thundered something awful. So mama said there would be no sitting out by the fire. But on our second night, we did have a fire. Mama and papa cooked their dinner on the fire while we watched.
Then mama got to do something that made her super happy – she got to have her s’mores. Apparently they are really messy but really good. Mama said it was the perfect kick off to this adventure. I have a feeling there are more s’mores in mama’s future. But I don’t think she’s going to share them with me. I’m not sure how I feel about that – but as long as it makes mama happy, then I’m happy too.
Today we went for our first hike. Mama said it couldn’t be too long, so it wouldn’t overwhelm us. We went just under two miles total. We found the River Loop Trail – it was just our style. Nice and wide and mostly in the shade. And you’ll never believe what we found = MYRTLE BEACH!
Apparently Myrtle Beach is a real big fancy place with ocean waves and lots of golf courses. But all me and Josie could see was a nice calm section of river with a gravel shore all to ourselves. It was nice walking out in the water. Even if it meant lots of dirty feet for mama to clean.
After the trail we stopped to take a break in the shade. It is in the 70s after all, which is pretty warm for us. I sure am glad we took a quick break because by the time we got back to our camp loop, Josie and I were beat.
After all the fuss with cleaning off our feet, mama finally let us back into the camper. We gobbled up some water and settled in for an afternoon nap.
Hi! We are Josie & Leda - and we are the canines of this castle! We are living the good life with our people. Check out and enjoy our adventures!
